In honor of the NBA finals currently taking place between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors, let’s take a look at some past Championship team totals.
Out of the current 30 active NBA teams, 13 have never won an NBA Championship, with 7 of those 13 never even making it to a final.
In regards to the two competing right now, the Warriors franchise comes in at 5th total, with 4 Championships out of 7 total appearances. The Cavaliers on the other hand have appeared in two and lost two, the last being 2015 against none other than Golden State. The Warriors ended up taking that series in 6 games, 4-2.
At the top of the leader-board you have the Boston Celtics, with 17 wins out of 21 appearances and the Los Angeles Lakers at a close 16 out of an astounding 31 Finals showings.
As well, one of the more amazing statistics is the third place Chicago Bulls, having 6 appearances throughout the 90’s, and losing none. They’re only team other than the Rochester Royals(now Sacramento Kings), and the defunct Baltimore Bullets to have won all the Championships they have competed in.
