The NFL free agency period officially kicked off this past Wednesday. As these football players continue to sign multi-year agreements worth north of $50 million in contract value, it turns out the National Football League has the lowest average player salary across the four major sports in the United States.
Despite football being America’s most popular sport, the average athlete in the NBA actually earns 2.17 times what the standard NFL player will make in a year.
