What Is This Metric?

This metric averages the amount of time your visitors have spent on your website in a given time period.

Why Should I Care?

The amount of time your average visitor spends on your website is another engagement metric that influences your sales. The longer your visitors stay on your site, the more chances they’ll opt in or make a purchase.

What Can You Do To Positively Effect This Metric?

Lengthening the average time on your site can be done in a multitude of ways, with some solutions seeming obvious but difficult to introduce and implement. For instance, creating better quality content at a consistent frequency can get visitors to your site as well as have them stay longer. While this seems simple in theory, creating quality content that people enjoy reading or viewing can pose quite a challenge.

Next, you can work on creating a flow through your website. Meaning that once someone is done with the content on a particular page they have the opportunity to continue their visit by clicking on something else.

Finally is aesthetics, the more professional your website looks the better chance someone will stay. If your site looks poorly designed and is full of ads or pop ups people will find it difficult to trust the site and will be more likely to leave.
